A Pediatric Office Visit
For our infants and very young children, we aim to make the visit as comfortable and welcoming as possible. We are very conscious of your child's sensitivity in new places or of new people, and especially possible fear of doctors and allow them the opportunity to warm to us before we "do" anything.
Many of the observation/posture analysis can be performed while a parent holds the baby. Parts of the exam and certain adjustments can also be done while in a parents lap or laying on a parents' chest. We do our best to get down to their level, so unless a child (toddler) specifically wants to get up on the adjusting table, we generally adjust them on a foam pad at floor level. This usually seems to make them (and you!) feel more secure.
Please keep in mind that infant adjustments are very soothing and gentle and quite unlike adult adjusting techniques.
